Seriously though, you guys: volcano farts. I was not expecting that. I mean, it makes sense, when you think about it. Volcanoes… sulfur.. sulfur smells like rotten eggs… so volcanoes should smell like rotten eggs, right? It never occurred to me. I guess I always thought of lava as smelling like a bonfire? Turns out, that is not the case. The case is volcano farts.

Fortunately, most of the drive didn’t smell that bad. And we got to hear about and see a lot of interesting things! Because of all the hot springs and geysers and stuff, Iceland gets a ton of geothermal energy, and we passed by some cool-looking zig-zagging pipes carrying naturally heated water to a power plant. Cool!
