The bar, Ölstofan, was quite cozy, and pleasant. I have since read that it’s recommended if you want a bar with music soft enough to talk over, which I can confirm is accurate. I felt at the time that since it was recommended to me by my tour guide as his favorite bar, it must be just a normal neighborhood bar that tourists wouldn’t necessarily know about. I figured it’d be unusual for a tourist to come in and ask about their own beer. However, it is apparently listed on every tourist website list of Reykjavík bars, so I guess my assumption was inaccurate. And they often mention their beer, Bríó, as well. So.. the conclusion here, I guess, is that I am not a special snowflake. Womp-womp. : )
