The first time I went to Iceland, I happened to have a really lovely dinner at a restaurant called Lækjarbrekka. As a matter of course, I made a couple of strips about the experience as part of my travelogue comic, Thoughts From Iceland.
(Quick aside – I can’t decide whether I prefer the term “comic travelogue” or “travelogue comic” – any preferences?)
Somehow or other, the owner of the restaurant found the comics, and actually contacted me to tell me h liked them. How flattering! I went back again on my second trip, and was treated to a really generous and wonderful meal… but more about that in the TFI compilation book I’m working on. ; )
Anyway, this is is a painting of me, the owner, and my beautiful Nordic waiter, all taking a picture together. : )
By the way! There’s a promotion for my comics right now on comixology – they’re all 50% off with the promo code INDIE through 1/1! So treat yourself to some comics!
